“Such are the atrocities that the demons are capable of,” sighed Hazel. He was smirking. Hakkai, Gojyo and Goku said nothing but stared at him.
“Don’t you find it tiring to be fighting all these demons all the time? They come for your scripture,” Hazel gestured towards Sanzo. “And they never stop trying.”
“Sure,” began Hakkai. “We all suffer like this, but we still keep on walking. Isn’t it the same with the demons, they never stop trying to attack us. They don’t stop trying either,” said Hakkai with a smile. Hazel stopped smiling and looked at Hakkai with surprise.
“Just goes to show doesn’t it?” said Gojyo. “Demons and humans are the same, so there is not a single reason in the world that YOU should exterminate their species.”
“I…” but Hazel couldn’t find anything to say. “But why? As far as I know, almost all of your pasts have been ruined by demons.”
“Because this is the path we have chosen,” said Goku.
“Yes, but even so, it is not right to say that demons are the same as humans, for you,” Hazel looked meaningfully at the trio. “Are demons yourselves. Furthermore, even if you still possess human characteristics, it is only the three of you whom are not a single bit prejudiced against demons. I am sure, that every pure human in the world has a bias against demons for demons have caused terror and chaos in their homes.”
“But that doesn’t imply anything,” interrupted Sanzo. “For one, if all demons were bent on attacking humans, then humans and demons would not even try to make peace between them. And there are definitely small groups of demons and humans who would just want to live their lives in peace.”
“Pardon me, but Mr.Sanzo, I do not think that you have any say in this for you have been traveling in the company of demons too long and they perhaps, might have succeeded in brainwashing you.”
“Trust me, my brains have not been washed or addled in any way and they will never be addled that easily by a few demons.”
Hazel looked at Sanzo with slight hatred. “I trust that you are on a journey to stop the demons from becoming berserk anymore?”
“Sure we are, so what?” replied Gojyo.
“Wouldn’t it be much easier if all the demons were just killed?” said Hazel. Hakkai glared at him.
“I think all the problems would be solved if YOU were just killed,” retorted Hakkai. Hazel stared at Hakkai in surprise. “So that there wouldn’t be anyone spreading rumours and inducing bias.”
“See, Mr.Sanzo? Such is the violence of demons. Even those closest to you are showing their true colours,” said Hazel.
“I would kill you myself too if I were him,” said Sanzo. Hazel gaped at him. He considered for a moment.
“We have nothing more to say to each other then,” said Hazel.
“Nothing more indeed.”
“Then let us go, Gato, and continue our mission to exterminate their kind whom are violent and non-sociable,” Hazel turned and left the village with Gato following close behind him and the Sanzo party too, left the village in their jeep.
